Memphis football has a new head coach — and a completely new coaching staff around him.

Charles Huff was announced as Memphis coach in December to replace Ryan Silverfield, who left for Arkansas, but he waited until the new year to finalize the majority of his staff. Most of those announcements were made on Jan. 1.

Among the hires announced by Memphis are offensive coordinator Kevin Decker and defensive coordinator Jason Semore.

Decker has been Old Dominion’s offensive coordinator since 2023. Before that, he was offensive coordinator at Fordham and Brown. The Monarchs were No. 19 in the country in yards per game in 2025 and had the No. 7 rushing offense in the country.

He has a connection to former Tigers offensive coordinator in Tim Cramsey, who is joining Silverfield at Arkansas. Both played at New Hampshire, and Decker worked under Cramsey at Montana State.

Semore has been with Huff for several years. He was Marshall’s defensive coordinator under Huff and went with him before the 2025 season to Southern Miss.

Huff, who hired Corey Phillips as general manager, did not retain any of Silverfield’s assistants. The Tigers have no time to waste: The transfer portal officially opened on Jan. 2, and they have to put together nearly an entirely new roster.
