The Seneca Indians are state champs.
They beat Lift for Life Academy Charter 33-26 in the Class 3 state football championship Friday at Spratt Memorial Stadium on the campus of Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.
It is Seneca’s third straight appearance in the state title game.
It is also the second championship in football in school history. Under the direction of Missouri Sports Hall of Fame coach Tom Hodge, the 1995 Indians finished 14-0, capping their season with a 35-14 win over Herculaneum in that Class 3 championship.
The Globe will have complete coverage and photos from Friday's game on our website, joplinglobe.com, and in Saturday's Joplin Globe.
