Sevier County 4-star TE Parker Newman commits to Duke football over Tennessee

Sevier County tight end Parker Newman has committed to Duke, he announced on his X account on May 29.

Newman's recruitment spiked throughout the winter and spring. He received major offers from powerhouse programs such as Tennessee, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Newman is a four-star, ranked as the No. 16 prospect in Tennessee and No. 20 tight end in the Class of 2027, according to 247Sports Composite.

Newman was a star on both sides of the ball during Sevier County's return to the TSSAA football state championship game in Class 5A.

In 15 games, he caught 78 passes for 1,059 yards and 10 touchdowns. At outside linebacker, the PrepXtra second-team selection recorded 117 total tackles, eight pass deflections, four interceptions, three sacks and two fumble recoveries.
