Former Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore was arraigned in Washtenaw County, Michigan courthouse less than 48 hours after he was fired and arrested following an assault complaint.
The 39-year-old Moore was fired for cause for what the school said was an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member and was later detained by police and booked into Washtenaw County Jail, where he remained until making his first court appearance Friday, Dec. 12.
Moore, who is married with three children, appeared via video during his arraignment in 14A1 District Court in a white jail suit.
Reached for comment by USA TODAY Sports after Friday’s court hearing a Michigan spokesman said the school had, “No additional comments at this time.”

Moore was charged with third-degree home invasion, a felony, and two misdemeanor counts of stalking related to a domestic relationship and breaking and entering.
His next court appearance is Jan. 22, and he must continue mental health treatment while out on bond, which was set at $25,000.

Sherrone Moore’s bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety. He was instructed by the judge to not buy a weapon, consume alcohol, marijuana or any other drug and would be required to wear a GPS monitor and comply with mental health checks prior to his Jan. 22 court date.
Why was Sherrone Moore arrested?
Moore was fired mid-afternoon on Wednesday by athletic director Warde Manuel after the discovery of a relationship with the staff member.
Police in Pittsfield Township, located just south of Ann Arbor, said in a statement they responded to a location at 4:10 p.m. local time “for the purposes of investigating an alleged assault.” Less than 30 minutes after this event, the athletic department announced it had fired Moore.
Moore then left the team’s football facility, went home, broke into the staffer’s home, and retrieved two butter knives and a pair of scissors during an argument, and threatened to take his own life.
It was revealed in court the staff member broke up with Moore on Monday, and then he proceeded to harass her with phone calls and texts.
Moore allegedly said “I’m going to kill myself, I’m going to make you watch, you ruined my life, your blood is on my hands,” Prosecutor Kati Rezmierski told the court.
Rezmierski said Moore didn’t directly threaten the victim but “the totality of the behavior is highly threatening and highly intimidating. We consider the defendant to be a risk to public safety, a risk to this victim.”
