Clemson’s postseason run came to an end Saturday afternoon in the Bronx, where a short-handed roster and an offense missing one of its most important playmakers proved too much to overcome in a 22–10 loss to Penn State in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.

Without Antonio Williams, the Tigers struggled to find rhythm or balance on offense, echoing issues that surfaced earlier in the season when he was sidelined. Clemson managed just 43 rushing yards on 25 attempts and rarely found itself in manageable situations on third down. Cade Klubnik finished 22-of-39 for 193 yards, but constant pressure disrupted the passing game and led to four sacks that stalled promising drives.

The tone was set early when Clemson attempted a fake punt on its opening possession. The pass fell incomplete, giving Penn State a short field and leading to the game’s first points. Both offenses labored through much of the first half, though Penn State took a 6–3 lead into halftime after converting a field goal as time expired.

Penn State asserted control in the third quarter, dominating possession and limiting Clemson to a single offensive series. That control finally turned into points early in the fourth quarter, highlighted by a 73-yard touchdown that stretched the lead to two scores. Clemson briefly responded with its best drive of the afternoon, a 10-play march capped by a short Adam Randall touchdown run to cut the deficit to 15–10.

Any momentum was short-lived. A depleted Clemson defense, missing multiple starters due to injuries, opt-outs, and the transfer portal, couldn’t get off the field. Penn State answered immediately with a touchdown drive that restored a comfortable margin and effectively sealed the game.

The loss snapped Clemson’s four-game winning streak and ended a 14-year run of postseason victories, as the Tigers closed the season at 7–6.
