The Oklahoma Sooners pulled off an incredible win over the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday afternoon and moved to 8-2 on the year and 4-2 in SEC play. The Sooners kept their College Football Playoff hopes alive with two games remaining, and it’s the Sooners’ second-straight win over a top-five Alabama team since joining the SEC.
It was the Sooners’ second-straight win on the road over a top 25 opponent after beating Tennessee two weeks ago. It’s Oklahoma’s fourth win over an AP Top 25 team this season. It came on the back of a great defensive effort. The Sooners forced three turnovers, including an interception return for a touchdown from Eli Bowen.
This was a statement win for the Brent Venables era. His defense took over the game down the stretch, keeping Alabama from scoring on their final four drives and preserving a two-point lead for the win. The Sooners brought an end to Alabama’s 17-game home winning streak in the process.
There’s still work to do with two games remaining against Missouri and LSU, but Oklahoma put itself in a position to control its own destiny. Here’s how social media reacted to the win.

Incredible Road Team
The Oklahoma Sooners have the most impressive back to back road wins in ALL of college football this season 🤌
OU goes into Knoxville and Tuscaloosa and come out with victories.
There is no team in CFB this year with that on the resume.

More Physical Team Won
OU 23 Bama 21
Live by the pass, die by the pass! Alabama DESERVED to lose.
Oklahoma won with grit, toughness, and an unrelenting will to be more physically dominant.
Yes, that helped the Sooners with gain a pick-6 versus Ty Simpson, too!
Hats off to OU!
