The Oklahoma Sooners added to their excellent 2027 recruiting class on Sunday. OU made it 22 commits in the ’27 cycle when they landed the pledge of Brenham (Texas) High School running back Jakoby Dixon this weekend.

Dixon is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals, and he checks in at 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds with still one more season of high school football to go for the Cubs. Dixon chose Oklahoma over other major programs like Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, and Ohio State, among others.

Dixon is the 12th offensive commit in the ’27 cycle for the Sooners, and is now the second running back on board, joining fellow Texan Keldrid Ben. However, Dixon represents the first pledge for new OU running backs coach Deland McCullough, and he quickly became a priority target for McCullough over the last few weeks. Oklahoma got him to Norman for an official visit this weekend, and he’ll leave as a member of OU’s 2027 haul.

Dixon was his district’s MVP at the 5A level in Texas during both his freshman and sophomore seasons. As a sophomore in 2024, he ran for over 2,200 yards and scored 32 touchdowns.

As Oklahoma looks for improvement running the ball going forward, the Sooners now have two ballcarriers that they should feel good about pledged to their 2027 class. Ben and Dixon could very well be the future of the running back room in Norman one day.
