South Dakota standout transfers to Rutgers football, reunites with new DC

New Rutgers football defensive coordinator Travis Johansen has added a big-time playmaker to his unit.

And it’s someone the former South Dakota coach is plenty familiar with.

The Scarlet Knights on Tuesday, Feb. 17 announced they’ve added defensive back Mikey Munn, a South Dakota transfer and FCS All-American, to the program.

Munn is the latest addition for the revamped unit.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Munn, has two years of eligibility remaining.

A Colorado native, Munn in 2025 had 59 tackles (3.0 for loss) with five interceptions. Munn ran a 10.51 100-meter dash out of high school, so he’ll add solid speed to the secondary.

Munn has potential to also help Rutgers on special teams.
