ORLANDO — South Florida will travel across I-4 to finish its 2025 season, accepting an invitation Friday, Dec. 5, to participate in the StaffDNA Cure Bowl.
The Bulls (9-3, 6-2 American) will meet Old Dominion (9-3, 6-2 Sun Belt) for the first time. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Dec. 17 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
“The Cure Bowl supports a tremendous cause that we are excited to champion, and we look forward to our Bulls taking on a very talented Old Dominion team on Dec. 17,” USF Athletics CEO Rob Higgins said in a statement. “It’s a short drive for Bulls Nation to Camping World Stadium, and I look forward to a great turnout in green and gold as we pursue a third straight bowl win for just the second time in program history.”

USF will compete in a bowl game for the 13th time since the program joined the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2000. It will seek a third consecutive bowl win, prevailing 41-39 over San José State in the 2024 Hawai’i Bowl and hammering Syracuse 45-0 in the 2023 Boca Raton Bowl.
Kevin Patrick will lead the Bulls into the game as interim head coach, following Alex Golesh‘s departure for Auburn. USF named Ohio State offensive coordinator Brian Hartline as Golesh’s replacement Wednesday.
“We are excited to go and finish this season strong against a very good Old Dominion team in the Cure Bowl,” Patrick said. “Our guys are preparing for the opportunity to post a third straight bowl win and to compete for a 10th win on the year, something that has only been accomplished here two other times.”
Hartline will finish the postseason with the Buckeyes, who will seek to defend their national championship. Ohio State meets Indiana Saturday for the Big Ten title and the No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff.
Old Dominion opened the season with a 27-14 defeat at Indiana and then finished second in the Sun Belt’s East division. The Monarchs won their final five games and boast top-20 national marks in total offense (460.8 yards per game) and scoring defense (19.3 points per game).
