Another key Michigan State defensive lineman is entering the transfer portal.

Michigan State football defensive lineman Alex VanSumeren is reportedly entering the transfer portal. Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer of 247Sports reported the notable portal entry on Friday morning.

The transfer portal window officially opened on Friday and will remain open through January 16. A large number of Spartans have already announced their intentions to enter the portal in the last few days, with VanSumeren being the latest portal entry.

VanSumeren has been at Michigan State for four years, becoming a staple for the Spartans’ defensive front. In three seasons of playing time in East Lansing, Mich., VanSumeren has collected 71 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks.

Earlier in the week, it appeared VanSumeren was set to return for his fifth and final season of eligibility. However, that will not be the case and he will wrap-up his career at another school instead of Michigan State.
