Two of Florida high school football’s most storied programs meet Friday night when Columbus, ranked No. 6 in this week's USA TODAY Sports Super 25 rankings, travels to Brian Piccolo Memorial Stadium to take on No. 1 St. Thomas Aquinas in a Sunshine State showdown.
The 7 p.m. ET kickoff marks Week 3 of the 2026 Florida high school football season for both teams — and a rematch of last year’s Week 3 clash in a game Aquinas handled, 42-7. Don't expect that score this time around though.
The Raiders are 2-0, with wins over Western (FL) and DeSoto (TX), which included a slight controversy after three of four DeSoto captains did not shake hands during the coin toss. Aquinas responded with 38 straight points, triggering the running clock in a game nationally televised on ESPN. Keep an eye on a pair of Ohio State commits on defense in four-star EDGE Wyatt Smith and three-star DB Jayden Carey, along with a pair of Notre Dame commits in four-star DB Zayden Gamble and three-star DB Andre Jones.
Columbus will respond with arguably the top player in the country in A'mir Sears, who went bonkers in last week's 33-28 upset over then-No. 2 Bishop Gorman, catching 5 passes for 67 yards with a pair of scores, along with three interceptions on defense. Northern Illinois commit Kai Moore will look to continue what was a successful outing for him last week against the Gaels, throwing for 240 yards and four touchdowns.
