GLENDALE, AZ — Ole Miss football has locked in another commitment for 2026 from an offensive star.

Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy has signed to return for the 2026 season, the school announced on social media Jan. 6.

He joins quarterback Trinidad Chambliss in committing to staying for next season. Chambliss will need a successful ruling on a waiver by the NCAA to come back.

Lacy, a sophomore, is not eligible to be picked in the 2026 NFL Draft. It’s hard to imagine a team that wouldn’t have jumped at the prospect of acquiring him in the transfer portal.

Lacy has rushed for 1,464 yards, which is No. 3 in the nation. He has been a sensation for the Rebels since transferring in from Missouri. Lacy has a program-record 23 rushing touchdowns this season.

Retaining Lacy is a major boost for coach Pete Golding and the Ole Miss staff in the wake of Lane Kiffin’s departure for LSU.

Running backs coach Kevin Smith is one of the coaches who will follow Kiffin to LSU. Losing Lacy to the Tigers would have added yet another layer of drama to the 2026 matchup in Oxford between the two teams.
