The Clemson Tigers‘ 2025 college football season will come to a close Saturday when Dabo Swinney’s team meets the Penn State Nittany Lions at Yankee Stadium in the Pinstripe Bowl.

When the season began, a potential Clemson-Penn State matchup was far more likely to occur in the College Football Playoff. Instead, both teams found themselves needing late-season winning streaks just to reach bowl eligibility.

The Tigers (7-5) finished the regular season on a high note by winning their last four games. They capped the season with a 28-14 victory over rival South Carolina in Columbia in the annual Palmetto Bowl rivalry.

Cade Klubnik threw for 268 yards and completed 24 of his 39 passes, and the defense pitched a second-half shutout of LaNorris Sellers and the Gamecocks.

Clemson safety Ricardo Jones had two interceptions in the second half, including one that was returned 12 yards for a touchdown for the game’s final score. Ronan Hanafin forced a late fumble in the Tigers’ two-score victory.

Penn State (6-6) also had a strong close to the regular season, winning its last three games after a six-game losing streak midseason that saw the team fire coach James Franklin amid a string of three straight losses on October 12.

The Nittany Lions, like Clemson, were a trendy preseason pick to compete for the national championship. Penn State climbed to No. 2 in the polls before a 30-24 double-overtime loss to the Oregon Ducks on Sept. 27 that changed everything. Clemson was ranked No. 4 in the preseason AP poll but started the season 1-3.

ESPN reveals TV, radio broadcasters for Clemson vs. Penn State football

Ahead of Clemson-Penn State, ESPN announced who will have the call of Saturday’s game in The Bronx. Dave Pasch and Dusty Dvoracek will call the action from the broadcast booth at Yankee Stadium. Taylor McGregor will report from the sidelines.

It is the broadcast crew’s first time calling a Clemson football game this season. Pasch and Dvoracek last called a Tigers game in the 2024 College Football Playoff when Clemson visited the Texas Longhorns in the first round in Austin. Pasch has been with ESPN since 2003 and is also the radio play-by-play voice of the Arizona Cardinals.

Additionally, Clemson-Penn State will broadcast on ESPN Radio. Jorge Sedano (play-by-play), Trevor Matich (analyst) and Caroline Hendershot (sideline) will have the national radio call of the game.

Clemson football series history vs. Penn State

Clemson and Penn State are meeting for just the second time in series history. The two programs met in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida, on New Year’s Day 1988. Coach Danny Ford’s Tigers defeated Joe Paterno’s Nittany Lions, 35-10.
