After a continuous raid of Iowa State players occurred over the past couple of days, Penn State just picked up a crucial commitment…from a local star.

D’antae Sheffey, from State College and who has played for State College High, committed to Penn State after meeting with coach Campbell on Tuesday. He had previously been committed to Syracuse but reopened his commitment where shortly thereafter, the Nittany Lions swooped in to seal his commitment and stay local.

Sheffey spent three of his four years in high school with the Little Lions of State College, where as a senior, he has 234 carries and rushed for 1,613 yards, averaging just over seven yards per carry. He hit the 100 yard mark in 10 of State College 12 games this year and also had a 200 yard performance in August. To top it all off, he showed prowess in the receiving game as well, catching 14 passes for 122 yards. His breakout campaign however, was in his freshman season, where he rushed for a career high 1,725 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging almost an astounding 8 yards per carry.

Sheffey is the No. 79 overall running back in the 2026 recruiting cycle as well as the No. 41 overall player in the state of Pennsylvania. He is a very important local pickup and will join a room that already includes stand-out transfers Carson Hansen and James Peoples.

Sheffey is now the 13th player in Penn State’s somewhat meager 2026 recruiting class. Still, he is also only the second non-former Iowa State signee in the class along with Powhatan(Va.) High’s Benjamin Whitver, a former James MAdison signee. Most importantly, he is the third player form Pennsylvania the Nittany Lions have signed after four-star QB Peyton Falzone and and four star edge rusher Jackson Ford.
