Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike McCarthy only has a few days left to decide on his 53-man roster for the upcoming season. McCarthy has difficult decisions to make ahead of the deadline on Sunday, but he has probably gotten used to it over the years.

One of the biggest questions for him is what to do with his slew of quarterbacks. As of now, the Steelers have Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, and Drew Allar. It is not usual for any team to have four signal-callers, but McCarthy is not ruling it out in his first stint in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers fell to the Buffalo Bills, 28-27, in their preseason finale on Thursday. When asked after the game if he feels Rodgers, Rudolph, Howard, and Allar all earned roster spots, McCarthy answered in the affirmative.

“I think that’s a very accurate evaluation. I feel good about the quarterback room,” said McCarthy in a report from Steelers Depot’s Ross McCorkle.

“I’ve been saying it for quite some time. I think they’ve shown it on the field. We got two veterans that we can win with, and we got two young guys that we’re real excited about their future.”

Rodgers, who is playing in his farewell campaign, is the clear starter, with Rudolph as the top backup. Howard and Allar will likely see limited action.

With the 42-year-old Rodgers retiring at the end of the season, it is imperative for McCarthy to form a succession plan, and keeping Rudolph, Howard, and Allar on the final roster could be a smart move.

Against the Bills, Howard threw 9-of-15 for 69 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, while Allar went 9-of-18 for 88 yards.

The Steelers will face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1.
