The Clemson Tigers have their new starting quarterback and it’s a familiar name for Clemson fans. Christopher Vizzina, Cade Klubnik’s long-time backup will more than likely get the nod to start the 2026 season behind center. DaboSwinney is a loyalty guy, until he’s not, and three-star true freshman TaitReynolds could make a push midseason.
A former four-star from Alabama, Vizzina has patiently waited his turn and would look good in the ChadMorris offense. The Tigers have always benefitted when having an elite QB and go only as far as their passer takes them. Vizzina did start one game over the past three seasons, the 2025 35-24 loss to SMU.
In the loss, Vizzina finished 29-of-42 on 7.5 yards per attempt with three touchdowns and no interceptions. It was an efficient performance that fell just short of a big win for the Tigers. Vizzina flashed athleticism, but didn’t run QB draw quite as well as the Tigers would have wanted vs. the Mustangs.
