MARYVILLE, Mo. (News-Press NOW) — Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl champion Jalen Sundell will host a one-day youth football camp from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the Maryville High School football field.
According to an event flyer, the camp is geared toward children from prekindergarten through sixth grade and will be non-padded.
Sundell, a Maryville High School alumnus, will help teach prospective football players from the four-state region the fundamentals of the game while having fun.
“Jalen will be there to assist and give his guidance on the skills he’s learned throughout his career,” the flyer states.
Sundell, the first Spoofhound to win a Super Bowl, graduated from Maryville in 2018, where he played center. He was a four-year letter winner for coach Matt Webb and a two-time all-conference selection at offensive tackle and defensive end. In 2017, he was named the Class 3 Offensive Player of the Year after helping lead the Spoofhounds to a 13-2 record and a state championship.
He joined the football program at North Dakota State in 2018 and redshirted during his first season, according to the university's website. In 2019, he helped the Bison produce their two highest offensive yardage totals in Division I that season, with 690 and 700 yards in back-to-back weeks. He was named to Phil Steele’s FCS Freshman All-America third team and the Missouri Valley Football Conference Honor Roll. His career continued to progress from there, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.
When Sundell returned to North Dakota State for an additional year of eligibility granted because of the pandemic's impact on the 2020 season, he started all 15 games at left tackle after spending the previous three seasons at center. He earned first-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors, first-team AFCA FCS All-America recognition and third-team Stats Perform FCS All-America honors. The Bison averaged 237.3 rushing yards per game and led the nation with 3,560 rushing yards and 69 rushing touchdowns. Sundell was later invited to the East-West Shrine Bowl and the NFL Scouting Combine.
He signed with the Seattle Seahawks in July 2024 and gained experience throughout his rookie season. In 2025, he started every regular-season and postseason game, helping the Seahawks reach and win the Super Bowl, defeating the Patriots 29-13.
The camp is open “to youth in the Midwest area who want learn football from a Super Bowl champion who plays the game of football and life the right way,” the flyer states.
The cost is $40 per child. Pads are not required. Participants should bring cleats.
