Welcome to the SEC Week 5 slate. The cowbells were clanging last week in Starkville. Hail State had a fever, and the only solution was more cowbell. The Mississippi State faithful set a new record, ringing 41,819 cowbells simultaneously for 30 seconds during their game last week against Missouri. As impressive as the record is, the Hail State quarterback has been even more so. Kamario Taylor continues to ascend to the top of the SEC and college football.

The Macon, Mississippi native has amassed 1,192 passing yards, 14 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions in just four games this season. The Bulldogs needed Taylor to pull off a come-from-behind victory last week over Mizzou. They will need Super Mario and those Cowbells as they welcome the Crimson Tide this week to Stark Vegas.

SEC Week 5 Predictions

Pretty, pretty, pretty good. Unblemished last week, but it wasn’t without its challenges. A lot has been done to the Longhorn offense in the offseason, but it’s been its defense that has gotten the job done this year. Through four games, the Horns are allowing just 271.0 yards and 13.3 points per game, down from 338.8 yards and 20.3 points in 2025, while improving from 4.92 to 4.00 yards per play allowed. Will Boom Muschamp might be the key coordinator hire of the offseason, although Buster Faulkner may want a word.

Week 3 Picks: 5-0
Overall: 18-2

  1. No. 7 Alabama at No. 16 Mississippi State
The Bulldogs are on a heater. They moved up to No. 16 in the AP Poll after their win over Mizzou. A win on Saturday would reward the patience Jeff Lebby has shown Zac Selmon. Taylor and bringing back Zack Arnett to run the defense have paid big dividends for Hail State. Alabama looks explosive on offense but has been plagued by slow starts. Could an 11 am local kick let Super Kamario ring the Cowbells?
    Pick: Alabama
  2. Vanderbilt at No. 2 Georgia
Jared Curtis is headed back to Athens, well, at least he should be. Curtis is the Commodores’ freshman quarterback and a one-time Georgia commit. He flipped on National Signing Day, choosing NIL and playing time over patience and Kirby Smart. The young quarterback is listed as questionable for Saturday. No worries, Georgia has a long memory and has done a great job of putting opposing teams away early.
    Pick: Georgia
  3. No. 8 Florida at No. 25 Missouri
Jon Sumrall continues to cook for the Gators. Faulkner had all the right calls on Saturday as Florida could seemingly do no wrong in their lopsided win over previously undefeated Ole Miss. Florida’s offense has completely transformed in 2026 under Sumrall and Faulkner. The Gators are currently No. 2 nationally in scoring (53.5 PPG) and No. 5 in total offense (532.8 YPG) through four games. That’s a huge jump from 2025, when the Gators averaged just 21.6 points and 341.3 yards per game, ranking 13th in the SEC in total offense. Missouri has been tough at home, but the Gators may prove to be too much.
    Pick: Florida
  4. Auburn at No. 17 Tennessee
The Tigers and Vols enter Saturday needing a signature win. Auburn lost two weeks ago at home to Florida, and Texas had their way with Tennessee on Saturday. We’ll give the nod to the Vols, who played Texas tough last weekend.
    Pick: Tennessee
  5. No. 24 Kentucky at South Carolina
South Carolina fans had circled this one heading into the 2026 season. They may still have this one circled, but not for the same reason. Shane Beamer is in the hot seat, and there doesn’t seem to be much he can do to dampen the flames. A loss to Kentucky will be a third in a row and may prove too much for the Carolina administration to stand.
    Pick: Kentucky
