Over the weekend, Syracuse Football added two more commitments to the 2027 class.
First up was defensive lineman Chima Okechukwu (no relation to former Orange Caleb) of Mt. Zion Prep in Maryland.
Okechukwu is listed at 6’8” 315 pounds and reportedly ran a 4.8 40. He’s unranked right now, but had an offer from West Virginia. If that 40 time is legit, it’s worth a shot because that size and speed could turn into an explosive athlete on the interior of the defensive line.
The second commit was athlete Amari Eliano from Toledo Central Catholic and he’s the son of Syracuse assistant coach Perry Eliano. Amari is listed at 6’1” and 185 pounds and is ranked three-star recruit according to 247. His other offers were from MAC schools Toledo, Miami (OH), Eastern Michigan and Bowling Green . Eliano plays wide receiver and defensive back and it will be interesting to see if he’s staying in Toledo for his final season or moving to a school in the Syracuse area.
This gives Syracuse 26 commitments for the 2027 class, which is ranked 39th by 247 and 43rd by Rivals. This could change if the the top two commits get slight bumps
