LSU football has secured a commitment from Braylon Calais, a four-star athlete out of Carencro, Louisiana, per On3’s Shea Dixon. Calais is Lane Kiffin’s fourth commit in the 2027 recruiting class, coming in as the second-highest rated recruit Kiffin has signed so far. LSU beat out Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Miami, and Houston for Calais’ commitment.
Calais is a top-200 recruit in his class, ranked as the No. 10 ATH and No. 9 recruit in Louisiana, according to 247 Sports’ rankings. He has experience on both sides of the football, though 247 Sports’ Gabe Brooks says Calais’ ceiling “may be highest at a defensive back-seven position.” Either way, his 6-2, 200-lb frame makes Calais an enticing prospect who could prove useful at several positions at the next level.
Kiffin does his best recruiting closer to national signing day, but Calais’ commitment should ease Tiger fans’ concerns about LSU’s currently thin class. So far, the class is headlined by four-star quarterback Peyton Houston, four-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant, and four-star wide receiver Ah’Mari Stevens.
Kiffin is working to flip a few other highly ranked recruits, so don’t be surprised if Calais is only the beginning of an LSU recruiting run.
