Talented LSU football cornerback questionable for Texas A&M game

A key LSU football defender was listed as questionable ahead of LSU's Week 4 meeting with Texas A&M. Cornerback Ja'Keem Jackson received the designation Thursday evening, a day after being listed as doubtful on Wednesday.

LSU's secondary depth is already stretched thin with STAR Da'Shawn Spears out for the season. LSU doesn't want to be without another talented player on the backend.

Jackson has carved out a role in Blake Baker's defense, often entering the game on obvious passing downs. LSU will typically send Jackson to PJ Woodland's corner spot, allowing Baker to move Woodland around. With Spears out, LSU could take that approach more often than just on passing downs on Saturday. Woodland is versatile and can play all over, meaning he can take some snaps at the STAR spot. Jackson is more comfortable on the outside.

Jackson had a big moment vs. Ole Miss, picking off Rebels' QB Trinidad Chambliss in the third quarter.

LSU will have to release another injury report on Friday, which could offer clarity of Jackson's status ahead of Saturday.
