One of the Tennessee Vols‘ top recruiting targets, who happens to be the son of a former Vol, is set to visit a top SEC rival this week.

According to On3, 2027 four-star linebacker Kenneth Simon II will visit the Georgia Bulldogs this weekend.

Simon, 6-foot-2/190 pounds from Brentwood, TN, is the son of former Volunteers linebacker Kevin Simon. He’s rated by 247Sports as the No. 7 linebacker in the nation and the No. 6 player in the state of Tennessee.

Alabama, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss are also in the mix for the Vol legacy.

Alabama is Tennessee’s biggest threat in the recruiting battle for Kenneth Simon II

Alabama is currently viewed as the Vols’ top competition for Simon.

“Sources around the Vols believe they are firmly in the mix to land his commitment and keep Simon home,” wrote 247Sports’ Tom Loy. “Tennessee sources aren’t getting too confident yet, but they believe they are very much a top contender to get this one done. Alabama is very confident when it comes to Simon’s recruitment. The Crimson Tide fully expects him to eventually land in Tuscaloosa.”

An important part of the Vols’ recruitment of Simon is his relationship with new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles.

“Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles has made a strong impression on Simon,” reported On3’s Chad Simmons in January. “The scheme fits his skill set, and the two have spent significant time together breaking things down. Linebackers coach William Inge has also played a key role, with sources noting that the family is comfortable with him. Simon and Tennessee remain high on each other’s boards as things currently stand.”

Anytime a top recruiting target visits Georgia it’s a concern, but it seems that the Bulldogs have quite a bit of work to do if they’re going to surge to the front of this recruiting battle.
