The NCAA transfer portal opened Friday and will close Jan. 16. Tennessee is a school of interest for Penn State safety transfer King Mack, according to Pete Nakos of On3.
“Sources tell On3 Sports that Tennessee is a school to watch for King Mack,” Nakos announced.
The 5-foot-10, 193-pound defensive back appeared in 13 games, including eight starts, for Penn State in 2025. He totaled 58 tackles, one tackle for a loss, 0.5 sacks, three pass breakups, one interception and four pass deflections.
Mack played for defensive coordinator Jim Knowles in 2025 at Penn State. Knowles was hired in the same capacity at Tennessee on Dec. 11, 2025.
“Hiring Jim Knowles was our top priority from the start of this process,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said. “Jim has a proven track record of developing elite defenses that play with an edge, and we got to see that first-hand during the 2024 College Football Playoff.
“His defenses are always physical, well prepared and can adapt quickly in-game against today’s complex offenses. He’s a competitor, a winner and someone who will get the most out of our players in practice and on gameday. We are thrilled to welcome Jim to Rocky Top as he helps us chase championships.”
