The NCAA transfer portal will take place Jan. 2-16, 2026.
Ahead of the Vols’ bowl game against Illinois on Dec. 30, Tennessee redshirt freshman defensive back Marcus Goree Jr. announced he will enter the transfer portal.
“I want to thank God for blessing me with the privilege to attend and play for the University of Tennessee,” Goree Jr. announced. “I am very thankful for the relationships I have built along the way. Therefore I will be entering the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining.”
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back appeared in four games at Tennessee from 2024-25. He totaled two tackles.
Goree Jr. went to Tennessee from Bradley Central High School in Cleveland, Tennessee. He committed to the Vols over Michigan, Nebraska, Colorado and Michigan State.
Tennessee will face Illinois on Dec. 30 in the Music City Bowl. Kickoff between the Vols and Fighting Illini is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. EST at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
