Tennessee redshirt sophomore kicker Max Gilbert announced he will transfer from the Vols following the 2025 football season with two years of eligibility remaining.

“After long and thoughtful conversations with my friends and family, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining,” Gilbert announced. “This was a very difficult decision. I will never forget my time spent on Rocky Top and will forever cherish the moments I spent at the University of Tennessee.”

The 6-foot, 200-pound kicker appeared in 26 games for the Vols from 2023-25. He converted 34-of-45 field goal attempts and 118-of-118 extra point attempts. Gilbert converted 14-of-19 field goal attempts in 2025.

His longest made field goal was 53 yards during his Tennessee career. He is from Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis, Tennessee.

The NCAA transfer portal opened Friday and will close on Jan. 16.
