Tennessee is recruiting toward its 2027 football signing class. Vols’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Joey Halzle visited four-star quarterback Israel Abrams on Monday.

“I had a great time on a home visit with coach Halzle, having breakfast and talking Vol football,” Abrams said. “Thanks for stopping by coach.”

The 6-foot-4, 187-pound prospect is from Montini Catholic High School in Lombard, Illinois. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 2 quarterback in the class and No. 1 player in Illinois.

Tennessee offered Abrams a scholarship on May 5, 2025. He has visited Tennessee three times, most recently for an unofficial visit during the Vols’ football game against Georgia on Sept. 13, 2025.

Iowa State was the first school to offer Abrams a scholarship on June 2, 2024. Other schools to offer him scholarships include Purdue, Minnesota, Toledo, Miami University, Western Michigan, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, Northwestern, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Indiana, Kentucky, Auburn and Duke.

Tennessee has four commitments in its 2027 football recruiting class: linebacker JP Peace, cornerback Kamauri Whitfield, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo and defensive lineman Kadin Fife.
