Why New Mexico State Will Win
To continue with the snark, just how jacked will Tennessee be for this? Again, all the hopes and dreams for the season ended two weeks ago with the tough home loss to Oklahoma, and it’s up to the Aggies to bring the energy and execution right away.
They have the right type of defense to take advantage of an unfocused offense. There might not be a ton of big stops, but they fly to the ball and take it away in bunches, with 15 takeaways in the last six games.
They’re fourth in the nation at forcing takeaways, and Tennessee is coming off a three-turnover game against OU.
Why Tennessee Will Win
New Mexico State doesn’t have a running game, and while it’s good for about 200 passing yards a game, overall, the attack doesn’t crank up the yards.
No, really, there is no Aggie ground game. Against a mostly Conference USA schedule – NMSU has yet to face a Power Four team – the team is dead last in America in rushing.
There’s no consistent scoring punch. The Vols don’t have to worry about getting hit with anything deep, and even if they start to bend, there won’t be a lot of breaking. But it’s about getting his over fast.
