The Texas A&M Aggies appear to have some more good 2027 recruiting class news on the horizon. This time from a fast-rising tight end.

The Texas A&M Aggies are recruiting on an extremely high level right now and are riding a ton of momentum in the 2027 class. Head coach Mike Elko and the Aggies currently hold commitments from five separate 5-star players according to the 247 Sports Composite ranking, including offensive tackles Mark Matthews, Kennedy Brown, safeties Kamarui Dorsey, JayQuan Snell, and cornerback Raylaun Henry.

It appears that there could be some more good news on the horizon, and this time at the tight end position. 2027 Dexter (Mich.) High School standout Holden Niemi has been one of the more highly coveted players at his position this offseason. While the rankings won’t get some excited, the programs pursuing Niemi certainly should.

Rivals national recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong has logged an expert prediction for Niemi to land with the Aggies. That would be a huge victory over some of the elite programs in all of college football. In terms of upside, Niemi is one of the better tight ends in the class, and a school like Texas A&M is banking on that future development.

Holden Niemi’s recruiting background

Niemi is considered to be a three-star by both Rivals and 247 Sports, while he isn’t even ranked by ESPN right now. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Niemi currently sits as the No. 737 overall player, the No. 39 tight end, and the No. 11 player from the state of Michigan for the 2027 recruiting class. He hasn’t yet seen the ranking bump many are expecting.

Despite those underwhelming rankings, Niemi is being pursued by some of the top programs in all of college football. Some of his top offers include the Aggies, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Florida, Tennessee, Miami, Indiana, Washington, Michigan State, Duke, Wisconsin, and Kansas, among others.

As a junior in 2025, Niemi put together a tremendous season for Dexter. He was able to collect 794 yards and 11 touchdowns as a pass receiver. Niemi was also a notable player on the defensive side of the football, collecting ten tackles for loss and five sacks. The 6-5, 210-pound tight end is a very interesting athlete with upside to get excited about.
