The Texas A&M Aggies have the best class in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and they may even extend their lead.

The Texas A&M Aggies could extend their commanding lead in the 2027 recruiting class with another elite addition.

Five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, the No. 6 overall recruit in the 2027 cycle, has trimmed his list to four finalists, and Texas A&M is among them. Dobson will announce his commitment on July 1 during the Rivals Summer Signing Day Show.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback out of North Carolina is the No. 3 corner and No. 1 player in his state, according to Rivals. His 97.31 composite rating on the Rivals industry scale reflects the caliber of prospect the Aggies are pursuing. Auburn, Michigan, and South Carolina round out his final four.

Texas A&M is the heavy favorite

Rivals currently projects Texas A&M as the team most likely to land Dobson, with an 86.3 prediction rating. That number should inspire confidence in College Station, but nothing is official until the commitment drops.

Dobson’s visit history is worth noting. South Carolina leads with nine visits, followed by Auburn and Clemson with five apiece, then Texas A&M with four, and Duke and Tennessee with three each. South Carolina’s edge in total visits makes the Gamecocks worth watching, but the prediction model still favors the Aggies.

What Dobson would mean for this class

Texas A&M already holds what is by far the top-ranked 2027 recruiting class. Adding a five-star corner to Dobson’s profile would only widen that gap. The Aggies have been stacking talent at an absurd rate, and a commitment from the No. 6 overall prospect would reinforce the program’s momentum on the trail.

Cornerback is a position where you can never have too much depth, especially in the SEC. Dobson’s size, ranking, and versatility make him the type of player who could compete for early playing time and develop into a multi-year starter. Landing him would also send another signal to future recruits that Texas A&M is pulling elite talent from coast to coast, including out of North Carolina, a state loaded with high-level prospects.

The July 1 announcement will be one to circle on the calendar. If the Rivals prediction holds, the Aggies are about to make an already dominant class look even more intimidating.
