Mike Elko and his staff at Texas A&M are continuing to build upon their momentum in the 2027 class, which already ranks No. 1 in the nation. The Aggies added another major piece on Friday when tight end Holden Niemi announced his commitment to Texas A&M’s 2027 class.

Niemi picked the Aggies over programs led by Josh Heupel at Tennessee and Mario Cristobal at Miami. With his commitment, Elko now holds 15 commitments in the 2027 cycle, and the recruiting surge may not be slowing down anytime soon.

Texas A&M offensive tackle commit Kaeden Scott recently spoke with GigEm247 about why he felt College Station was the perfect fit.

“There’s not much else I need to see,” Scott said. “A lot of recruits are about to come to A&M.”

Scott is rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 16 offensive tackle nationally, according to Rivals. Meanwhile, Niemi is considered a three-star prospect and ranks as the No. 44 tight end in the 2027 recruiting class.

Niemi had been a priority target for newly hired tight ends coach Derek Shay, whom Elko brought onto the staff in January. Texas A&M extended an offer to Niemi just nine days after Shay's hiring, and he now becomes the Aggies’ first tight end commit in the 2027 cycle. He joins wide receiver Jaden Upshaw as the only skill-position pledges currently committed to Elko’s class.

A big portion of Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting group is made up of elite talent, with one-third of the commitments carrying five-star status. That list includes offensive linemen Kennedy Brown and Mark Matthews, edge rusher Zyron Forstall, and defensive backs Kamarui Dorsey and Raylaun Henry. Elko has also secured commitments from Jaden Upshaw, JayQuan Snell, and Myels Smith.
