Texas A&M football showed signs of life last weekend. Now comes the difficult part: proving that improvement wasn't a one-game phenomenon.
The Aggies (3-2, 1-2 SEC) visit No. 14 Missouri (4-1, 1-1 SEC) Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Columbia, where Mike Elko's team faces a significantly tougher challenge than the one it handled against Arkansas.

After consecutive conference defeats to Kentucky and LSU, Texas A&M finally delivered a complete performance in its 34-7 victory over the Razorbacks.
The Aggies piled up 401 total yards, including 231 rushing, while limiting Arkansas to just 214 yards. Quarterback Marcel Reed completed 13 of 19 passes for 170 yards as the offense relied on a productive ground attack.
But Missouri isn't exactly searching for answers.
The Tigers are coming off a stunning 45-17 dismantling of then-No. 8 Florida, a performance that established Eli Drinkwitz's team as a legitimate SEC contender.
Quarterback Austin Simmons carved up the Gators for 340 passing yards and two touchdowns, while running back Jamal Roberts exploded for 211 rushing yards and three scores.
Missouri finished with 561 yards of total offense and scored 35 unanswered points after the game was tied at 10.
Those numbers present serious concerns for an Aggies defense that hasn't consistently controlled opposing offenses.
The biggest question Saturday is whether Texas A&M can win the battle at the line of scrimmage.
Missouri held Florida to just 42 rushing yards last weekend. If the Tigers duplicate that effort, Reed could find himself facing considerable pressure to carry the Aggies through the passing game.
There's also history working in A&M's favor.
The Aggies have beaten Missouri three consecutive times, including a 38-17 victory in Columbia last season. Texas A&M holds an 11-7 advantage in the all-time series.
Still, past results won't mean much if the Aggies can't contain Simmons and Roberts.
For Elko, Saturday represents an opportunity to demonstrate that his team is moving in the right direction.
A victory over a ranked SEC opponent would restore confidence and strengthen Texas A&M's postseason outlook.

Another conference loss, however, would leave the Aggies at 1-3 in league play with little room for additional mistakes.
Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT Saturday on ABC.
