Texas A&M (9-0, 6-0 SEC) will enter Week 12 as one of the few undefeated teams in the country after defeating Missouri 38-17 on the road, and after finishing 3-0 on the road with consecutive 20-plus point wins over LSU and the Tigers, the Aggies continue to look like the most complete team in the SEC.
Ahead of Tuesday night’s CFP rankings reveal, Texas A&M’s No. 1-ranked strength of schedule should be taken into consideration, combined with the Aggies’ road success, led by the Aggies’ Week 3 win over Notre Dame in South Bend, which continues to look like the best win of the season for any team. Still, if Texas A&M doesn’t move up from No. 3, nothing will change inside the locker room.
On Saturday, after rushing for a mere 23 yards in the first half, the Aggie run game exploded after halftime, led by sophomore running back Rueben Owens’ 102 yards and two touchdowns, totaling 243 yards and three scores on the ground.
However, outside of senior back Le’Veon Moss, who has missed the last three games due to injury, only senior EJ Smith and freshman Jamarion Morrow, who combined for 39 yards and a touchdown, received the other running back snaps. On Monday, head coach Mike Elko was asked about senior running back Amari Daniels, who did not see the field on Saturday.
“A little bit pecking order. Still got a lot of confidence in Amari and I think you’ll see him again moving forward, just kind of the way the game played out Saturday.”
Texas A&M’s running back room, even without Le’Veon Moss, is one of the deepest units in the country. While Rueben Owens has played like the team’s 2026 lead back, Daniels’ aggressive run style and second-level agility have provided a boost to the run game this season, but since the emergence of Jamarion Morrow, paired with EJ Smith’s success as a short-yard/goal line threat, it’s no surprise Daniels was a healthy scratch.
This is a luxury for Elko and OC Collin Klein, but I’d expect to see Daniels back on the field against South Carolina on Saturday.
