Texas A&M’s spring season is off to a fast start, as the Aggies’ fifth practice finished on Saturday, while coach Mike Elko and his staff are equally focused on what many describe as the most important recruiting stretch of the season, needing to make headway with the remaining priority prospect in the 2027 cycle.
On Thursday, the Aggies reportedly hosted 2027 four-star edge, Mekai Brown, who, despite being an early favorite to land with USC, is still in play and could make his way back to College Station this summer. However, there has yet to be sufficient feedback regarding his visit, but so far, so good.
This offseason, Elko opted to make five coaching elevations, including promoting secondary coach Bryant Gross-Armiento to coach cornerbacks, which was well-received by the 2026 roster, including freshman blue-chip cornerback Brandon Arrington, and could pay dividends on the recruiting trail.
On Saturday afternoon, AggieYell insider Jaxson Callaway revealed that five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson made his way back to campus, as the Aggies are contending with the LSU Tigers, while five-star edge Zyron Forstall, who received an early prediction to land with Texas A&M, also arrived on Friday night. Both players are expected to take official visits this summer.
Lastly, 2027 four-star linebacker Kaden Henderson made his way back to campus for the second time in the last two weeks, and, like Zyron Forstall, received a prediction to land with Texas A&M. In agreement with Callaway, the Miami Hurricanes serve as the Aggies’ primary competitors and will host the standout defender multiple times.
Intel: Texas A&M is hosting a number of top-ranked prospects after a busy mid-week slate of visits, as well.
