Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his staff wrapped up the 2026 recruiting class, signing all 26 commits, while adding four-star running back Carsyn Baker, who decommitted from Florida earlier this week. With all but one of the 2026 signees set to make their way to College Station in early January, the focus now shifts to the 2027 recruiting cycle.
After receiving several predictions to land several 2027 prospects, including five-star cornerback John Meredith, Rivals/On3 insider Sam Spiegelman revealed that two of the Aggies’ priority 2027 prospects in the Mid-South region of the country are close to announcing their commitments. First, four-star edge Kaden McCarty, who also received a prediction to land with the Aggies, visited Texas A&M last month, but is also considering Houston.
“Four-star EDGE Kaden McCarty will come off the board on December 8. Texas, Texas A&M, Houston, Baylor and Texas Tech are finalists for the Rivals300 defender from Houston (Texas) Cy Falls, who made visits back to College Station and to Houston over the last month. Texas A&M started to separate itself from the pack early on this fall. I’m still confident in my current prediction for the Aggies to come out on top in this one.”
After landing two of the top-ranked edge prospects in the 2026 cycle, it’s no surprise the coaching staff has made significant gains with the Houston native, who is quickly rising in the rankings, currently positioned as the 11th-ranked Edge in the 2027 class.
Four-star offensive lineman Kaeden Scott, who is also a favorite to land with the Aggies, hails from the San Antonio area and attended the season finale between Texas A&M and Texas last Friday in Austin. The Longhorns reportedly do not have the inside track with the standout pass protector, and Texas A&M remains the leader heading into the new year.
Four-star OT Kaeden Scott has been closing in on his college decision for the past few weeks. From speaking with sources informed on this recruitment, there is a sense that it won’t be long before he makes his decision public. The massive offensive lineman out of San Antonio (Texas) Roosevelt made three visits to College Station this fall. Scott also made it back to Texas for the regular-season finale vs. the Aggies, who have been trending in this recruitment for weeks. As we inch closer to a decision, I love where Texas A&M stands.
Scott, who stands at nearly 6’7″ and over 285 pounds, is a perfect fit to play and develop under Texas A&M offensive line coach Adam Cushing.
