This weekend is a big one for Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his staff, who will host a long and talented list of 2027 prospects, including several five-star recruits who the Aggies are currently leading with, led by standout offensive tackle Kennedy Brown and do-it-all linebacker Cooper Witten, who is the son of future Hall of Fame tight end Jason Witten.

The visitors list is deep over the next two weekends, and while he won’t make his way to College Station in the coming days, standout 2027 four-star wide receiver Eric McFarland will be on campus the following weekend, and according to Rivals insider Greg Biggins, Texas A&M, along with Ohio State and USC, are recruiting McFarland “the hardest,” the incoming IMG Academy senior spoke about all three programs.

So far, McFarland has visited College Station twice, and after finishing 11-2, headlined by the program’s first appearance in the College Football Playoff, the future is very bright, and Mike Elko looks like the right man for the job. Here’s what McFarland had to say during his interview with Greg Biggins:

“I have an upcoming visit to Texas A&M January 24 for Junior Day. I’ve been there twice and always enjoy it there. I went when Jimbo Fisher was still there and then went on a game day visit when they hosted South Carolina. They’re an up coming program that had a really good year. The game atmosphere was incredible and I think I could fit in really well there.”

While NIL opportunities now play a role in every player’s final list of programs, McFarland says the importance of fitting into the offense is key, especially given that Holmon Wiggins will take over as the playcaller next season after serving as Texas A&M’s wide receivers coach over the last two seasons.

Wiggins, who also served as former Alabama head coach Nick Saban’s assistant head coach and WR coach from 2019-2023, has several current NFL star wide receivers, including Heisman winner DeVonta Smith, who make up an impressive list of playmakers who developed under Wiggins in Tuscaloosa.

According to Rivals, McFarland is currently positioned as the 22nd-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the 4th-ranked wide receiver, and the 3rd-ranked prospect in Florida.
