Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class will be well-represented during this Saturday’s Under Armour All-American Game, as five of the program’s nine commits will take part in the game, headlined by four-star cornerback Raylaun Henry, four-star quarterback Jayce Johnson, and four-star safety JayQuan Snell.
This week, Henry confirmed that he is “115% committed” to the Aggies, while Jayce Johnson is also locked in with head coach Mike Elko and his staff. Both will keep their options open heading into the summer.
This early in the process, none of this is surprising. Still, another elite 2027 prospect has emerged as a potential flip candidate for the Aggies, as five-star defensive lineman Jalen Brewster, who is ranked as Rivals’ No. 1-overall recruit in the cycle, will be one of the more pursued commits by the likes of Ohio State, Indiana, Oregon, Texas, and Texas A&M.
All five programs have a good chance to flip Brewster going into the new year, but right now, Rivals insider Chad Simmons’s recent interview with Brewster, Ohio State, and Texas A&M looks like the two schools to watch, while Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko’s full-court press could pay off in a big way.
“I’ve got connections with a lot of the coaches at A&M. Coach Trooper is one of the most real coaches with me, and I trust him. My dad knows some of the coaches there, so I’ll probably get back.”
Trooper Taylor’s recruiting prowess is almost unmatched, so if the Aggies have any shot with the five-star defender, he’ll be the reason why. Still, Brewster stated that getting to the NFL is “what matters most to me” when making his final choice. While Texas Tech isn’t known for developing defensive linemen, the program is rapidly changing under head coach Joey McGuire.
According to Rivals, Jalen Brewster is the 6th-ranked 2027 prospect, the No. 1-ranked defensive lineman, and the No. 3-ranked prospect in Texas.
