Ahead of this Saturday’s Under Armour All-American Game, which will feature more than half of the Aggies’ 2027 recruiting class commits, the check-in portion, which took place on Tuesday afternoon, provided recruiting insiders plenty of insight regarding several elite recruits who have yet to commit to a program and are being connected to Texas A&M.
Prospects are taking notice after watching former Bowling Green edge Cashius Howell become an unanimous All-American during his final season with the Aggies, proving that head coach Mike Elko and his defensive staff, now including new co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Elijah Robinson, are on the right track.
For the No. 8-ranked prospect in the 2027 cycle, five-star edge Zyron Forstall, who will play in Saturday’s game, revealed to Rivals insider Steve Wiltfong that the Aggies are “probably sitting at the top right now” of his recruitment list, which further proves that Robinson’s hire, paired with Cashius Howell’s acendance, has made the Aggies a top destination.
Forstall visited Texas A&M back on October 4. While the Aggies failed to take advantage of playing in Kyle Field during the first round of the College Football Playoff, falling 10-3 to Miami, Mike Elko’s defense will continue to improve with better talent.
“Really just the communication and how they showed interest and how consistent they’ve been reaching out and trying to get me out as much as possible.”
“Really I’d say going back to watching their defense play this year and them telling me a position I can play. They have a guy on the field showing this is what you’re going to do and we’re going to develop you.”
Elko and his staff reportedly see Forstall as a Cashius Howell clone, which is quite the compliment, and given his five-star status, Forstall is ahead of schedule.
According to Rivals, Forstall is currently positioned as the 9th-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 1-ranked Edge, and the 2nd-ranked prospect in Florida.
