During the Week 11 bye week, No. 3 Texas A&M (8-0, 5-0 SEC) knew that one of its priority prospects in the 2027 recruiting class was set to announce his commitment. Over the past two weeks, Texas A&M has been considered the favorite to land five-star safety Kamarui Dorsey, who announced his commitment on Saturday morning.
Dorsey committed to Texas A&M over Ohio State, LSU, and in-state programs Georgia and Georgia Tech, as head coach Mike Elko and his staff have continued to dominate the Georgia recruiting landscape, while Elko’s elite background in developing cornerbacks and safeties is well known nationally. Dorsey, who visited College Station and attended Texas A&M’s 31-9 win over Mississippi State, couldn’t have been more impressed with what Elko has built in less than two full seasons.
Becoming the 5th commit in Texas A&M’s 2027 cycle, Dorsey joins quarterback Jayce Johnson, offensive tackle DeMarrion Johnson, defensive tackle Elijah Patmon, and athlete/cornerback Hakeem Frampton, who are all considered perfect program fits.
Like every commit in Texas A&M’s 2026 and 2027 classes, relationships are everything, and Dorsey feels that the future is bright for every position group, especially in the secondary. During an interview with On3, Dorsey explained exactly what led him to choose Texas A&M instead of staying home.
“How A&M compares to others is that they are very down to earth from the start,” Dorsey stated. “They keep it real with you and let you know how they feel about you and just 100 percent truthful. Like I got along with everyone on the staff, literally everyone. They are very high energy, want the best for you and you can be yourself all the time but they also expect the best out of you but feeling that common ground of both.”
According to Rivals, Dorsey is currently positioned as the 41st-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the 4th-ranked safety, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Georgia.
