Texas A&M QB, WR named to Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List

Texas A&M's 2026 season is just four weeks away, as the Aggies will kick off the new campaign against Missouri State in Kyle Field on Saturday, Sept. 5. Entering his third season at the helm, coach Mike Elko will once again rely on redshirt junior quarterback Marcel Reed to lead the offense, while junior wide receiver Mario Craver, who reeled in 59 receptions for 917 yards and four touchdowns, will now serve as Reed's No. 1 receiver.

It's been a busy offseason for both players, especially Marcel Reed, who threw for a career-high 3,169 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, all career-highs, while Craver is looking to cross the century mark in receiving yards and benefit from the offseason addition of Alabama transfer WR Isaiah Horton, who is now the Aggies' biggest wide receiver at 6'4".

On Monday, Reed and Craver were named to the Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List, which is no surprise when looking at their career numbers, as the veteran signal caller enters his second full starting season with 27 appearances and 21 starts, including his career-high 452 yards during the Aggies' epic comeback win over South Carolina last season after trailing 30-3 at the half.

After recording 917 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns, Mario Craver was a 2025 Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist and earned a selection to the All-SEC Third Team after transferring from Mississippi State. After a 207-yard performance during the Aggies' road win over Notre Dame in Week 3 last season, Craver recorded three 100-plus-yard receiving games and was the lone Aggie named to the All-SEC First Team as an all-purpose player, earning second-team honors as a wide receiver.
