Texas A&M’s massive recruiting weekend was highly successful based on early returns, as 2027 five-star cornerback John Meredith made his way back to College Station for his official visit, while one of the more underrated defensive prospects in the cycle, 2027 four-star safety Loia Valade, who announced on Sunday that he will move up his commitment date to June 2, is now trending towards committing to Texas A&M.

One of the more versatile defensive back prospects in the country, Loia has quickly become one of the most sought-after defensive prospects over the last month, and while Auburn, Miami, and the Florida Gators all have a shot at landing his commitment. Still, this close to his commitment date, the Aggies are reportedly trending in the right direction, according to a source.

On Sunday, 247Sports insider Zach Bolstein logged his prediction for Texas A&M to land Valade on Tuesday, and based on the recent rumblings, this isn’t surprising, based on the three-star prospect’s strong relationship with coach Mike Elko and safeties coach Ishmael Aristide, who already have a clear vision of how they’d use him at the next level.

Playing both ways last fall, Valade reeled in 29 receptions for 456 yards and five touchdowns at wide receiver, combined with 21 tackles and two interceptions on defense. According to 247Sports, Valade is currently positioned as the 57th-ranked safety and the 54th-ranked prospect in Florida.
