Amid all the chaos surrounding the College Football Playoff, the transfer portal is set to open on Friday, and the Under Armour All-American Game, featuring more than half of Texas A&M’s nine 2027 recruits, will take place on Saturday, while pre-game interviews with several elite prospects provided more insight for the Aggie fan base.

One of the program’s priority 2027 targets, four-star offensive lineman Albert Simien, recently discussed his short list, with Texas A&M, Nebraska, and LSU reportedly his top 3 schools. While the standout blocker received an early prediction to land in College Station, he’ll continue to consider his options, while the Aggies seemingly remain on top.

Discussing his future goals with Rivals insider Chad Simmons, Simien reportedly plans to major in Psychology, which will also affect his final decision. On the field, development is everything. Knowing that Texas A&M offensive line coach Adam Cushing will return next season, it’s no surprise that Simien continues to speak highly of Texas A&M.

“Texas A&M makes me and my family feel special. The coaches make us feel comfortable. I visited once on my dad’s birthday, and the whole staff knew it without us telling them. That showed us a lot. Coach Elko, Coach Cushing – the whole staff – they recruit me hard, they know me well, and that family feeling always stands out.”

If this isn’t a sign that the Aggies aren’t the leaders in Simien’s recruitment, I don’t know what is. Also praising Nebraska and LSU, Texas A&M’s offensive line this season allowed just 14 sacks, and will send three starters to the NFL as likely second-day NFL Draft selections this spring.

Cushing’s recruiting prowess has prevented any significant drop-off heading into the 2026 season. While the Aggies must add at least two offensive linemen from the transfer portal, landing Simien would further solidify future depth and starting-level talent. Simien plans to visit all three schools this month during junior days.
