Texas A&M remains the favorite to land rising 2027 4-star LB

On Wednesday, one of Texas A&M’s priority prospects in the 2027 recruiting class, five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, will announce his commitment just days after the Aggies landed key commitments from rising three-star wide receiver Damani Warren and five-star wideout Eric McFarland, who committed to A&M on Sunday afternoon.

While the Aggies have led with Dobson for quite some time, a recent report and official prediction have given South Carolina the edge, which isn’t shocking in today’s NIL-driven recruiting age that gives nearly any Power Four program a chance during the final 24 hours of a prospect’s commitment decision. Still, no one can count out Texas A&M going into Wednesday, similar to landing five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson after he received a prediction to commit to Notre Dame.

Even if Dobson commits to South Carolina on Wednesday, you can be sure that coach Mike Elko and cornerbacks coach Bryant Gross-Armiento will continue to pursue the five-star defensive back heading into the 2026 season up until Early Signing Day in December.

Another name to watch in the coming weeks is 2027 four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen, who, according to AggieYell insider Jaxson Callaway, continued to trend towards committing to Texas A&M ahead of his July 11 commitment date. While Syracuse has made headway with the New Jersey native, the Aggies continue to hold the lead.

“At the moment, it’s hard not to like where Texas A&M stands. Syracuse has continued to prioritize Allen and has generated some momentum, but the latest buzz continues to favor the Aggies.”

Even after landing Kaden Henderson, paired with four freshman linebackers from the 2026 signing class, Allen’s versatility and athletic upside make him the final linebacker addition to a future rotation that is completely built from recruiting, if he commits.
