Texas A&M Sparks Recruiting Buzz After Hosting 5-Star Committed to Auburn

The Texas A&M Aggies pulled off an epic and historic comeback on Saturday, erasing a 27-point deficit to defeat South Carolina.

That massive comeback win won the hearts of the "12th man" who filled Kyle Field. And it also sparked some recruiting buzz after the game involving a prominent Auburn commit.

Safety and Tigers pledge Brian Womack took in Texas A&M versus South Carolina. Joseph Hastings of GigEm247 wrote how the nation's highest ranked Southeastern Conference team "knocked it out the park" for the five-star.

"Womack, the highest-rated recruit on campus, was treated like a priority by the staff and even the players, such as Marcel Reed," Hastings wrote.

That would be the aspiring Heisman Trophy contender at quarterback — right before he shredded the Gamecocks for 439 yards and three touchdowns. But Reed wasn't the only Aggie Womack interacted with.

"He spent quality time with all the coaches, namely position coach Ishmael Aristide and head coach Mike Elko," Hastings said.

The head coach then dropped this message for Womack that Hastings revealed.

"Prior to leaving on Sunday, Elko told Womack that he is needed in this class and that he's the perfect culture fit in his program; we wrote a couple of weeks ago that A&M needing, not wanting Womack, could work in their favor," Hastings said.

Texas A&M 'Was Going to Win' the Whole Time

The Aggies target never believed South Carolina was going to put away the Aggies.

"I'm just going to tell you, I knew they were going to win the whole time. I don't know why, but I did," Womack told 247Sports. "It was an early game, and they probably didn't want to play the game at that time. I just know how players are when it comes to the early games. I don't care what South Carolina's record is. They are a good team. It's a great environment, a great Texas A&M team, and in my opinion, it should've been a night game. That's not an excuse though. They played bad."

Womack's Auburn commitment is now on high alert.

Womack not only visited an SEC rival, but trekked to College Station while the Tigers search for a new head coach. Hugh Freeze got fired midseason and opened up one of the more coveted jobs in the country.
