Texas A&M star RB likely a 'game-time decision' vs. Miami in the CFP

Less than 24 hours before Texas A&M (11-1, 7-1 SEC) hosts Miami (10-2) in the first round of the College Football Playoff, head coach Mike Elko and his staff are happy to know that senior linebacker Scooby Williams and safety Bryce Anderson will be available in the first time in more than two months, while the status of star running back Le’Veon Moss has yet to receive a straight answer.
This week, the first two CFP injury reports revealed that Moss is questionable to play, giving him a 50% chance to take the field after missing the last six games. At the same time, Elko has consistently stated that he is in “wait-and-see” mode regarding Moss’s availability on Saturday. However, after watching the recent practice tape from Tuesday’s session, the Louisiana native looks healthy and ready to contribute.
Still, ankle injuries are tricky, especially for running backs, and according to the final injury report before Saturday’s game, Moss remains questionable, while On3 insider Pete Nakos stated on X that, based on his own discussions, Moss is likely a game-time decision before the biggest game of the year for both programs.
Why is this such a massive deal? Texas A&M’s running game finished the regular season with nearly 200 yards per game, but struggled to find consistency and forced starting quarterback Marcel Reed to drop back more than Elko and offensive coordinator Collin Klein wanted during the regular season.
A lot of yards were left on the field, and with a healthy Le’Veon Moss, the Aggies just might have defeated Texas instead of falling to the Longhorns on the road. If he can’t go, Rueben Owens, EJ Smith, and freshman Jamarion Morrow will be the names to watch in the backfield.
No changes have been made to the updated CFP availability report from Texas A&M tonight — RB Le’Veon Moss is still questionable (50% chance to play) and no other Aggie players are on the availability report.
