Entering his third season at the helm, Texas A&M coach Mike Elko has established himself as one of the top recruiters in the country amid the program’s recent string of commitments in the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, which now includes five-star outside linebacker Kaden Henderson, who is widely considered one of the top athletes in the cycle.

On Friday, one of the Aggies’ priority prospects, five-star cornerback John Meredith, committed to the Texas Longhorns after his official visit, and while Texas A&M will remain a player until he puts pen to paper, Elko and new cornerbacks coach Bryant Gross-Armiento have their eyes on fellow five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, who took his OV earlier this month, and will announce his commitment on July 1.

If the Aggies can secure Dobson’s commitment, Elko will have checked nearly every positional box, especially in the trenches with four offensive line commits and five defensive line/edge commits, who are all considered blue-chip prospects with high NFL potential. Even after the Longhorns landed John Meredith, who is now the Longhorns’ highest-rated cornerback to commit, Texas A&M remains No. 1 in every recruiting site’s rankings, including ESPN.

The biggest risers include Texas, up from No. 21 to No. 10, and Texas Tech, up from 11th to 5th, while LSU and Georgia Tech have entered ESPN’s top 25. This week, I predicted that the Aggies’ next commitment would be five-star wide receiver Eric McFarland, who will make his announcement on June 28, followed by Joshua Dobson just 12 days later.
