Texas A&M’s 17 transfer portal additions are all equally important to the program’s immediate future, while some stick out more than others. On offense, Alabama transfer wide receiver Isaiah Horton looks like the final piece to the puzzle for starting quarterback Marcel Reed, possessing the size at 6’4″ to not just win one-on-ones along the boundary, but provide a critical red zone threat.
With KC Concepcion, who reeled in 61 receptions for 919 yards and nine touchdowns, combined with two punt return touchdowns, Mario Craver, who was equally impactful last season with 61 receptions for 917 yards and four touchdowns, will return as Reed’s No. 1 option, and combined with Ashton Bethel-Roman and Terry Bussey returning, speed will not be an issue.
What makes Horton so intriguing, outside of his size and large catch radius, is his experience at both Miami and Alabama, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge of different schemes, while his lone season with the Crimson Tide ended with a career high of eight touchdowns and 511 yards, becoming one of quarterback Ty Simpson’s favorite targets on third down an in the red zone.
On Monday, coach Mike Elko spoke for the first time in nearly two months, and when asked about the additions of Isaiah Horton, the third-year head coach didn’t mince words when discussing his importance to the team’s ability to compete in 2026:
“It was a big one. It was something we talked about last year as one thing we tried to get but just weren’t able to.”
“You have a taller, more physical wide receiver that has played a lot of competitive football at Miami and Alabama… He was a kid we tried to get last year.”
This week, sitting down with the TexAgs LIVE crew, Horton provided more insight for the Aggies fan base, especially from a leadership standpoint. While both Texas A&M and Alabama lost in the first round of the 2025 College Football Playoff, Horton’s experience in the postseason will blend well with an already established A&M roster.
“As a player, you’re getting a guy who’s going to give it his all every saturday. I’m going to give you 100 percent. You’re getting a dominant receiver who makes players, who’s hungry”
Breaking through to the postseason is no longer the central focus; the mindset in 2026 is to get past the first round and compete for a spot in the national championship game, and Isaiah Horton is ready to contribute to that potential success.
