Texas A&M will host 2028 5-star S for a visit in early October

Texas A&M's No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class is all but wrapped up, aside from potential flips at running back, including notable five-star Landen Williams-Callis, who committed to the Texas Longhorns, and four-star back SaRod Baker, who committed to Texas Tech. Just three weeks from now, Texas A&M's 2026 season opener vs. Missouri State will serve as the first opportunity to host priority prospects in the 2028 recruiting class.

Late last month, it was revealed by AggieYell insider Joseph Hastings that five-star safety Casey Barner, one of the most versatile defensive backs and the current No. 1-ranked safety in the cycle, will visit the Aggies this fall, but he did not disclose a date until now. This week, Barner told Rivals' Steve Wiltfong that he will make his way to College Station for Texas A&M vs. Arkansas on Saturday, Oct. 3.

After visiting the Aggies during the Maroon & White spring game, Barner praised College Station as "electric" while noting the "passionate" Aggie fan base in attendance. Entering his third season at the helm, coach Mike Elko's background as one of the top defensive minds continues to attract top talent, especially in cornerback and safety development.

Coach Elko and his staff are very detail oriented and real with you they’re not just selling a vision, they’re showing exactly how you fit into it. Another important member of the Aggies coaching staff, Texas A&M safeties coach Ishmael Aristide, is already an established recruiter with an equally impressive development background and continues to play an instrumental role in Barner's recruitment; this relationship has only strengthened since the Aggies first pursued the standout DB, looking to make an impression during his visit on Oct. 3.
