Texas A&M’s hopes of finishing 12-0 did not come to fruition after falling to rival Texas 27-17 on Friday night, and while the Aggies are a lock to make the College Football Playoff, they’ll likely move down multiple spots and could be replaced by the likes of Oregon or Texas Tech, which are also 11-1.
With the 2025 regular season in the books, reflecting on what led to the consistent on-field success starts with the offseason additions of transfer wide receivers KC Concepcion (886 yards) and Mario Craver (825 yards), who have combined for 1,711 yards and 13 touchdowns, including Concepcion’s nine receiving scores and two punt return touchdowns.
The combination of elite speed and athleticism has translated into the SEC’s top receiving duo, while helping starting quarterback Marcel Reed throw for a career-high 2,932 yards and 25 touchdowns and rush for 466 yards and six scores. While the redshirt sophomore’s Heisman odds have plummeted after losing to Texas, he can thank both receivers for helping him take the next step as a pocket passer.
Among the rest of the top wide receivers in the SEC, only Texas A&M and Tennessee were the two teams to have multiple receivers finish in the top 10 in receiving yards.
Echoing many in the Aggie fan base, head coach Mike Elko, OC Collin Klein, and WR coach Holmon Wiggins deserve all the credit for identifying Concepcion and Craver before most of the blue-blood programs made an offer.
Wherever Texas A&M ends up in the College Football Playoff, the return of senior running back Le’Veon Moss, paired with KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, who are rested and refueled for a postseason run, puts the Aggies in a solid spot before Sunday’s final CFP rankings are released.
