After more offers piled up, Texas commit Karnell “Greedy” James announced that he would be making a final decision on his commitment status Thursday.
Texas was relatively early to the game with James, offering in June 2025 after he attended a summer camp on the Forty Acres. In December, James made his pledge to the Longhorns, becoming just the third member of the 2026 class. However, the Longhorns did not get the benefit of the early offer and evaluation, following an explosive junior year, more high profile offers came in.
James now boasts 29 offers, including the other two finalists, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the LSU Tigers. The latter are perceived to be a favorite to flip him heading into his announcement on Thursday.
If James does flip to the Tigers, Texas will still be in a strong position in the secondary, with five-star John Meredith III, Brandon Sherrard, and Junior Tu’upo still in the class.
