As the Texas Longhorns have been preparing for the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, they have also been busy building for the future. On Thursday, they secured a commitment from three-star tight end JT Geraci. The New Jersey native is one of the best tight ends in the 2027 class and hopes to be a major weapon in the offense. While his collegiate debut is still over a year away, excitement is building for what his future holds.
In Geraci, the Longhorns landed a player in high demand. He chose Texas over Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame, & Vanderbilt. During the recruiting process, the Longhorns’ newest offensive weapon received offers from Auburn, Boston College, and Colorado. The heavy interest in Geraci’s services came as no surprise, given how he is viewed by scouts.

Currently, the Don Bosco Prep star is ranked as the 27th best tight end in the 2027 class by 247Sports. They also rank Geraci as the 17th best player from New Jersey. When he does step on campus, Geraci will be part of a recruiting class that is already filled with a few playmakers.
The Longhorns 2027 class also includes four-star wide receiver Easton Royal and three-star cornerback Darnell James. Over the next few months, that list should continue to grow. Texas has made offers to some of the most talented players on the board in Tyson Robinson, Caden Waye, Nick Lennear, Quentin Hale, Ahmad Hudson, and Kennedy Brown. Adding any of those players would give Texas a massive boost.

With Geraci in the mix, the Longhorns have one less position to worry about. They are still in the market for another tight end, but at least one talented option to rely on, in Geraci. If he continues to improve, he should see plenty of playing time in the Longhorns’ offense.
While there is still more work to be done, the Longhorns 2027 class is off to a good start.
